Boston!!

So I took a quick trip up north to visit some friends. Boston was awesome. Cold and snowing, but seemed really fun. Got to see Harvard and MIT. (see how the other half is living, right?) But serioulsy, I loved it. It's so beautiful up north!! I've never been anywhere north of New York, so it was an experience. The friends of friends were hysterical! I'm counting on heading back there this summer. Possibly heading over to the Cape. Who knows? Might prove interesting. ;)

Communism

Don't read Rousseau. That is of course unless you're a communist....or a crazy liberal. He makes me want to rip up his book. Especially his On the Social Contract. What he says all sounds fine and dandy....but it's communism. Sure, it's a good idea for everyone to put into society exactly what he takes out...but seriously. Communism is an EPIC FAIL. No one is willing to put into society as much as he should if he can just mouch off what the rest of us puts in. GAH I'm so tired of reading this. It's taken me so much longer than usual because it's so hard to dredge through something you're diametrically opposed to. Please, make it stop =(

Newspaper/Midterms/Buzzed Friends/Death?

So....no paper came today. Like I'd predicted. Although I did receive a lovely email from the distributor asking for an apartment number, because customer service hadn't given them one. Dumb ass. So maybe next Sunday? Who knows....

In other news, its midterm week. aka....death week. Or perhaps not death week. That's probably finals week. This is more like chronic disease week? I like that. Chronic disease week it is. With all the sick people around, it's a fairly accurate description I'd say. Anyhoo...Trying to get as much work done now to make the week better. Doesn't look like that's going to happen though. I'm hoping that the "snow storm" really takes and classes are canceled tomorrow. A girl can dream right?

*sigh* back to work I suppose. Writing this from the library (where else?). It seriously is my new home. LaVieFrancaise and I are probably going to stay here all night. The weather's gross so why go out again? We'll see. I'm already a little tired and we just got here.

Oh!! To spice things up a bit and perhaps make my weekend sound even more depressing....everyone seemed to be out partying this weekend. Even my friends at other school's. Lots of fun texts and late night/early morning visits from everyone. I believe around 3:30 am I got invited down the hall for a party. I almost dragged myself out of bed to go. lol....if another late-nighter hadn't dragged off the "inviter", who knows. My night probably would've been a hell of a lot more interesting. Oh, well....back to work! Ciao!

Getting Raped by my "Sex" Midterm

So it's 1:15am...and I'm in the library, as usual. I'm attempting to study for a class titled sex, gender and culture. Ya. See the title to see how that's going. I don't plan to sleep much tonight, and the class starts at 830am. I just want it to be 2pm tomorrow, and all this will be over. And then I'm sleeping. *sigh* It'll be beautiful. Anyhoo...back to the books. Ciao!

Mid-terms

Fml...I have a midterm Thursday and I have had no time to study between practice, classes, and regular homework. It's currently 3:33am, and I have to be at morning practice at 7am. Trying to decide whether to sleep now and in the morning, and then study in the afternoon and night....or stay up, sleep in the morning and afternoon, and study at night. The great decisions I have to make since hitting college. Sleep or study? Reminds me of a facebook bumpersticker: 1) sleep 2) social life 3) homework...you can only choose 2. lol. I thought it was funny. Anyhoo, gotta run. Decided sleeping now is a better bet. I need to go to sleep earlier tomorrow night, because the exam is at 8:30am. Ciao!

Late Nights at the Library

So, it's 20 'til 2 in the morning and I'm quite bored. I'm in la bibliothéque with NJ2DC and Danza13, mostly just chilling. I think they're actually doing homework, but I could definitely be wrong...I should be studying for my mid-terms or writing the paper I have due Thursday ::scary music plays:: but you know, that would be just too intelligent. Anyone know anything about the History of the Contemporary Middle East? As oxymoronic as that is, of course...

Apparently NJ2DC has a pregnant wife. And he needs to tell that to someone who only speaks Spanish. Or maybe he's just doing his Spanish homework. I like the first option =)

I need spring break. Now.

Bonne nuit mes petits choux <3

Customer Service: A slow painful death

This will be brief. I just spent 30-45 minutes waiting on a customer service agent to help me at the New York Times. I haven't received any Sunday subscription papers since I signed up in January, but they were still charging me. Not cool. So I finally go to do something about it. All I wanted to do was cancel my current subscription, because I learned they had a student specific one. This probably explains why I haven't been getting my papers. I didn't use the right form. (Yay for bureaucracy!!) But anyways, I digress...so finally reaching an agent and asking to cancel, he of course insists on figuring out a way to not lose my business. I explain the situation and he says he can help me set up the correct account. Sure, should be faster right? WRONG! I knew more about what the student subscription needed to be complete then he did. I knew it was going to be bad when he couldn't find my account at first. So after being put on hold multiple times, and coaching him through the appropriate information (like what dorm building), we'll see if the paper actually shows up this Sunday. Somehow, I doubt it. Ciao!
Okay...

A) NJ2DC CALM DOWN.

B) Hi
Danza13! You're sitting right across from meee =)

C) So, as you can probably already tell, I'm a little obsessed with French...^_^

D) I hate class. Like Masterpieces of Music. I love music. I hate class. MIDTERMS >_<

E) I don't feel like I'm that interesting, sooooo. Yeah. I'm sure I'll come up with something later to tell you.

K.Thx.HaveAGoodDay.

Crappy Essay

OMG...I just read a crappy essay. It was horrible. And I had to peer edit it. Ugh. So many simple spelling and grammar mistakes. It's driving me crazy. I mean, this is college, right? And I'm pretty sure I signed up for Honors English, not Remedial English.

I sincerely hope this kid has some sort of writing disability I do not know about, because if this essay was written by just a regular Honors student, my respect for this school and my hope for the future of mankind just got taken down a notch.

*sigh* 3:30am...again

Alrite. The blog is getting up and running. This is far from what I should be doing right now, but much more entertaining, especially at 3:30 in the morning. I'm sitting in our lounge right now typing this with another late-nighter friend. Yay midterms!! So this is my sanity break.

Since I am the first person involved with this blog, being that all my fellow DC elites are asleep, I feel as if I should explain it. None of us knew each other before starting school here in DC. We're all first year college students, and it has been an interesting few months. Hopefully this blog will be a source of entertainment and maybe information for others who are in similar positions. Or maybe you're out of college and want to re-live priceless moments. Or not in college yet and want a preview. Whatever your reason, we're here to literally put our lives on the line. We have our own email account that you can reach any of us at as well. So feel free to drop us a line! If you want a specific blogger to reply, just put the label of the post in the subject line. (If you hadn't guessed, the labels correspond to different people). ;)

Adjusting to city life has been a source of constant frustration and amusement. At least where my posts are concerned, the first few are going to be in retrospect, just to get you caught up to speed. Life is hectic as always, and I really should be studying. I'm counting down the days to spring break, although I'm not going anywhere like my friends. But that's a story for another post. It's back to the books now. Ciao!
